But The Games Is On

Flyers Make a Bid for Weber

The Philadelphia Flyers already lost a premier defenseman in Matt Carle when he signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The market wasn’t exactly good to the Flyers either, with their most celebrated signing being none other than… Ruslan Fedotenko?

The only options were trade or the lesser seen offer sheet to a restricted free agent. The Flyers took the latter option, opting to offer Shea Weber of the Predators an 11 year deal at $110 million.  The Flyers have money to burn and have been vying for a big name, and there wouldn’t be many bigger, and better fitting than Weber.

This certainly puts the Predators in a bind. They have already lost Ryan Suter, and now face the possibility of losing Weber as well. Their options include matching the Flyers’ offer sheer or taking back some draft picks. After losing Suter, however, it seems like the Predators almost have to make the move to keep Weber.
