But The Games Is On

10-0

The Los Angeles Kings’ improbably run has continued, as they took the second game of their series with the New Jersey Devils on Saturday evening. Aside from being the first 8 seed to reach the Finals since 2006 when the Edmonton Oilers pushed the Carolina Hurricanes to 7 games, the Kings have also put up some numbers that open some eyes.

First, the headline for this post may have given it away. The Kings are 10 and 0, undefeated on the road so far in the postseason. The only chance that the Devils have to take a game at home will come if they can win one of the two games (at least) at the Staples Center.

Second, the Kings and Devils are the first two teams to go to overtime in their first two games in the Stanley Cup Finals in 61 years. That’s some serious history.

Lastly, 9 out of the last 11 teams to win their first two games, when played on the road, have gone on to win the Finals. I predicted the Devils would win the series, but it appears they are going to have a tough road to sled from this point forward.
