Obviously, with a few games left in the season, there is still a chance for some seeding adjustments, but at this point, most of the league knows whether or not they are in or out of the post season. In each league, however, there are a handful of teams that still have meaningful games.

EAST:

IN (at this time): New Jersey, Ottawa, Washington

OUT: Buffalo, Winnipeg

A lot of bad things have to happen for New Jersey and Ottawa for either squad to be left out. Similarly, a lot of good fortune needs to come the way of the Jets for them to make the post season. The real battle is on between Washington and Buffalo, who are tied in points and games played.

WEST:

IN: Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix

OUT: San Jose, Colorado, Calgary

Colorado is in a bind, having played more games than any other team in the lead. They only have 2 games left on the season, and are a point back of Dallas, Phoenix and level with points with San Jose, though the Stars, Coyotes and Sharks have 2 games in hand. This is going come down to the teams in the Pacific, and one of those squads is going to be left out.
