The first trade of the day involved another reunited duo. The Kostitsyn brothers once played together for the Montreal Canadiens until Sergei was dealt to the Predators in 2010 for two players.
This morning, older brother Andrei was moved to the Predators to add some scoring depth. The deal was relatively minor, with the Habs receiving a 2nd round pick in 2012 and a conditional 5th round pick that was sent to Nashville earlier this week in exchange for Hal Gill. Kostitsyn has struggled this year, and doesn’t have a point in his past 9 days. Of course, many players, including Guillaume Latendresse, Mike Ribeiro and brother Sergei have shown that a move out of Montreal is often beneficial to one’s career.
The Predators also moved Jarred Smithson earlier this week, so there is certainly roster space for the young Belorussian rejoining his brother in Tennessee.
