But The Games Is On

The NHL Takes a Break

The NHL, save for one game, is on hiatus. Well, there are several players who were chosen to participate in the All Star Game, and they will spend the weekend in Ottawa. There is the skills competition, the draft, and of course the game for willing participants. (This does not include Alexander Ovechkin, of course)

Just for fun, here are the playoff matchups if the season ended at this point.
Eastern Conference: 8 New Jersey vs 1 New York Rangers
7 Florida vs 2 Boston
6 Ottawa vs 3 Washington
5 Pittsburgh vs 4 Philadelphia

Good to see teams like Florida and Ottawa in there. What about in the West?
8 Minnesota vs 1 Detroit
7 Los Angeles vs 2 Vancouver
6 Chicago vs 3 San Jose
5 Nashville vs 4 St. Louis

I would really enjoy seeing St. Louis back in the playoffs.

And you know what? For the heck of it, I’m going give you the pairings if realignment had taken effect this season.

Conference 4
4 Washington vs 1 New York Rangers
3 Pittsburgh vs 2 Philadelphia

Conference 3
4 Toronto vs 1 Boston
3 Florida vs 2 Ottawa

Conference 2
4 Chicago 1 Detroit
3 Nashville 2 St . Louis

Conference 1
4 Colorado 1 Vancouver
3 Los Angeles 2 San Jose

So that would be bad for Minnesota and New Jersey, but good for Toronto and Colorado.

Enjoy the break!
